Established in 1918, Arya Vidhya Sabha (Reg.) entered into the arena of higher education starting D.A.V. College with the graduate classes in 1950 and postgraduate classes in 1958. Soon it was recognized both by the public and the government as a leading institution of the state. Principals of the college Prof. Sheetal Prasad was made the Vice-Chancellor of Agra University, Dr. V.P. Aggarwal was recognized as scientist of International fame and Dr. B.K. Tyagi was given to serve as the member of the U.P. Higher Education Service Commission and Pro V.C. of the C.C.S. University, Meerut. Prof. S.V.S. Rana, faculty member of the college too became the Vice Chancellor of Bundelkhand University. In 1994-95 the Govt. of U.P. declared D.A.V. College Muzaffarnagar as one of the top three colleges among all grant-in-aid and Govt. Colleges of U.P. Keeping pace with the changing trends in the educational scene, the college has been introducing newer subjects under the self-finance scheme. For the past few years it has been successfully running various graduate and postgraduate level courses in computers, business management, Bio-technology, Bio-Chemistry and Micro-Biology. To strike a judicious balance between Science and Art, D.A.V. College Muzaffarnagar is a torch-bearer in the field of fine arts and music. No other college can boast of having organized as many exhibitions and music performances. The Departments of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Zoology, Botany, Statistics, Law, Hindi, History, Economics and Education are recognized Research Centres. Apart from the academics, the students of the college have held and are still holding very high positions in the Civil Services, Judiciary and other fields. The Parliament and the Legislative Assembly have had more than a dozen representatives who had been a part of of the college. A faculty member of the college too has represented the Assembly for two consecutive terms. In the cultural field too the faculty and the college are active at the national level. Location : Lying between the two capital cities, Delhi and Dehradun, DAV College Muzaffarnagar, U.P. has the advantage of being easily approached by rail and road transport. An affluent city of western U.P. Muzaffarnagar also falls within the 100 Km. distance to the holy cities of Haridwar and Rishikesh. Situated, though, at the heart of the town, D.A.V. College, Muzaffarnagar bears a calm and serene look, free from all kinds of pollution. |
